Room FAQs
Still have a question?
Visit FAQWhy choose Scape over university halls/private rentals?
University halls aren't for everyone. Late-night parties, noisy flatmates, shared bathrooms and limited amenities can make it tough to maintain a tidy space and focus on your studies. University rules can sometimes feel restrictive, whereas Scape gives you the freedom and support to find your own feet.
On the contrary, Scape offers many perks that are hard to find in university halls or private rentals. You have the flexibility to choose a room type that suits you - and the option to live independently or with friends. Scape also gives you access to a supportive community like nowhere else, with regular events and 24/7 reception to help with anything you need. From Sip & Paint to yoga classes and Halloween parties, there's so much more to Scape.
University halls vs Scape: pros and cons
How secure is my room?
Your safety is our number one priority. All our rooms in Bloomsbury are equipped with top-notch security features, including key fob access to your room, corridor and every entry point in the building. For added peace of mind, we have CCTV, on-site security and 24/7 reception to assist you at anytime.
This level of security exceeds what you’d typically find in private rentals. Unlike university halls which are usually situated on campus, Scape is lot more selective with our locations and you can relax knowing that Bloomsbury is a safe, central neighbourhood only a short commute to most major universities in London. Should you need anything at all while you’re here, you can reach our team via instant message on the Scape Student app, and we’ll take care of it.
Are all bills really included?
Yes, you heard right. At Scape everything is covered in your weekly rent, including all utilities and bills, gym membership and superfast Wi-Fi. This amount is fixed from the start of your tenancy so even if energy bills go up, your rent stays the same.
There’s no need to find your own energy, gas and Wi-Fi suppliers, everything's already set up and ready so you can get settled in straight away. Find out more about Life at Scape here.
Can I book a room tour?
Of course. Feel free to book a tour here. You can check out the room you’re interested in, along with our gym, cinema, study spaces and social hangouts. It’s a great way to get a glimpse of what life at Scape is really like.
We’re sure that you’re going to love it! Just double-check that you receive a tour confirmation email before arriving so that we can make sure our team is ready for your visit. We can’t wait to show you around.
How likely is it that I will get a room?
Rooms at Scape are popular and tend to fill up fast. The best way to guarantee your spot is by booking early. Since our rooms are dynamically priced (like flight tickets), booking ahead also gives you a chance to get our best rates.
If there’s no current availability, you’re welcome to join our waiting list. If a student cancels their booking and a room becomes available, we’ll reach out to everyone on the waiting list. Rooms will then be filled on a first-come first-served basis.
Do I need a guarantor to book?
Good news, you don’t need a guarantor to book. Securing a room at Scape Bloomsbury is hassle-free. As long as you’re over 18 when you move in, you can book your spot without any extra paperwork or fuss. It’s just another way we take the stress out of moving.
What size bed do I get?
All studios and apartments come with a comfy double bed, giving you plenty of space to stretch out and recharge after a busy day at university. Twin rooms come with a raised single bed, similar to a bunk except with a spacious study desk beneath.
You just need to bring your own pillow and bedding. There’s large under-bed storage, wardrobes and drawers for all your stuff.
What kitchen appliances are included?
Your fully equipped kitchen comes with a hob, microwave and fridge-freezer combo so you can easily whip up your favourite meals. If you need anything else, we’ve partnered with Unpacked so you can conveniently pre-order kitchen, bedding and cleaning items to be delivered directly to your door at Scape on move-in day.
Are rooms noisy? Is there A/C?
All bedroom windows are double glazed to reduce noise. Space Bloomsbury implements advanced air circulation systems to ensure bedrooms maintain an ambient temperature for optimal comfort. There is also air conditioning in the gym and communal spaces.
What else is included? Do I need to bring anything?
Our rooms in Bloomsbury are thoughtfully designed with extra details. Enjoy a fully furnished space with an ensuite bathroom, waterfall shower, heated towel rails and mirrored bathroom cupboards. Our rooms have large windows to let in natural light along with a comfortable and well-lit study desk, ideal for catching up on lectures or video-calling family.
Plus, you’ll have access to all our communal areas in the building like the gym, cinema and social spaces. There’s a laundry room where you can do your washing and drying for a small fee, and your mail and parcels can be delivered to reception and easily tracked on the Scape app for added convenience. Here’s a handy checklist to help you pack for move in day.
Is Scape only for students?
Yes. Scape offers private student accommodation especially for student living. Our beautifully designed, purpose-built accommodations are managed independently from the universities in your city and are exclusive to students over 18. We welcome students studying at a range of higher education institutions, providing a comfortable and supportive environment to help you get the most out of your university experience.
Can I stay with my friends?
Yes, you can. Staying with friends is a great way to get the full university experience, with all the same Scape perks. The best way to make it happen is by booking together. Just reach out to our team at [email protected] and we’ll get it sorted. Don’t forget to check our Offers page for any group booking or referral discounts.
Can I have guests stay overnight?
You’re welcome to have overnight guests at Scape. You just need to check them in at reception or on the Scape student app when they arrive. We respect your independence.
When is the best time to book a room?
Scape was voted ‘Student Accommodation of the Year’ in 2019, 2021 and 2024, and the reality is that Scape Bloomsbury books up really quickly. If it’s your first year, the best time to secure your room is when you’re applying for university. If you don’t meet your grade requirements - or you exceed them and decide to study elsewhere - you can cancel your booking free of charge until August 2025 (T&Cs apply).
If you’re already at university, we suggest booking your room as early as possible. Our current residents are given a chance to book before rooms are open to new students, so booking ASAP means you won’t miss out.
How do I book a room?
Booking a room at Scape Bloomsbury is quick and easy. Just click the 'Book this room' button online and choose your location, room and floor. You’ll be asked to sign a tenancy contract and make a 2-week upfront payment, which will be deducted from your rent. Once that’s done, your booking is confirmed.
Our rooms fill up quickly. If you’re worried you’ll miss out but still need a few days to decide, we recommend putting a room on hold. Just select your room, create a Scape account and submit your contact details. We’ll take the room off the market and give you up to 72 hours to complete the final steps of your booking.
